Bio
Jack Springer is a multifaceted individual whose life has taken him from the ER to the stages of academia, from the depths of ocean swims to the heights of plane piloting. Jack is not just an emergency medicine physician; he’s also an educator, lecturer, public speaker, actor, author, and philosopher.
His unique Board Certification in the USA and Australia sets Dr. Springer apart, a testament to his expertise and dedication in emergency medicine. His passion for health and healing has led him to study, practice, and teach on nearly every continent, excluding Antarctica.
Dr. Springer holds two degrees in Tropical Medicine, with fellowships in Diving Medicine and International Emergency Medicine. He is recognized as an expert in Travel and Tropical Medicine, certified by the American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene.
His professional journey has taken him from significant healthcare organizations such as the Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra-Northwell and Loma Linda University to Albany Medical Center, UCLA, and the Mayo Clinic Hospital System. Jack’s experiences range from the Highlands of Papua New Guinea to trauma centers and war zones in Bosnia, providing him with a comprehensive understanding of the field.
Beyond medicine, Jack has delved into the study of affective disorders of Anxiety and Depression, believing in the importance of addressing their global impact. His upcoming book, “Smiling Faces Tell Lies,” explores these disorders, emphasizing the role of neuro-developmental abnormalities and early-life attachment dysfunction.
Outside the medical realm, Jack wears many hats. He’s a distance ocean swimmer, a PADI-certified SCUBA diving instructor, a devoted Indo-Tibetan Buddhism and meditation student, and a skilled drummer. Piloting planes is just another feather in his cap.
When it comes to favorites, Jack’s eclectic tastes shine through. His preferred travel destinations span from the international allure of Thailand to the domestic charm of Santa Barbara, Sedona, Boston, and San Francisco. Culinary delights range from New York “street” pizza to blazing Thai green curry, uni, durian, and juicy peaches. Jack enjoys music from Pink Floyd to Tom Petty, and his literary preferences include classics like “The Snow Leopard” and “Moby Dick.”
In his downtime, Jack treasures moments spent with his yoga teacher wife, Yasmin, and their extraordinary twins, Sienna and Sedona. Whether exploring tide pools or daydreaming, Jack finds joy in life’s simple pleasures. He resides in San Diego with his family and Guinea Pigs Marlowe and Alex.
