Dana earned his M.A. from Azusa Pacific University and his J.D., cum laude, from the University of San Diego School of Law. He served as Editor-in-Chief of the law school's faculty journal, the Journal of Contemporary Legal Issues, was published therein (9 Journal Contemp. Leg. Issues 329), and was listed in Who's Who Among American Law Students. He received honors awards in several courses. Dana is admitted to the Nevada and California bars.
Prior to beginning his own practice, Dana managed the Trademark Practice for Quirk & Tratos, an intellectual property firm based in Las Vegas. Dana managed over 1,500 trademark files, and dozens of major clients. Among the trademarks under his management were BELLAGIO, MIRAGE, TREASURE ISLAND, GOLDEN NUGGET, as well as the trademark assets of Mandalay Resort Group; Station Casinos; Boyd Gaming; Palms; Stratosphere; and many more. Dana performed hundreds of searches for new trademarks for a host of clients in various industries, counseled clients regarding trademark and copyright issues, and handled both simple and complex licensing and transactions.
Dana has formed dozens of corporations to assist his clients in accomplishing their business goals. He has also managed litigation involving trademarks, trade secrets and copyrights.
Dana owned and operated several California businesses. He also founded and developed FreeLegalAid.com, an online directory and search engine providing legal self-help. Dana served as general counsel to an Internet start-up company in 2000 and has serviced a variety of start-up enterprises since that time.
Dana has authored instructional materials and taught lawyers and paralegals about the Internet and Internet law (N.B.I. 1999, 2002), and he has taught lawyers about trademarks (Lorman, 2000; N.B.I. 2001). His areas of practice focus on trademark prosecution and licensing, copyrights and business transactions.
